Once the big, chaotic team found those bomb materials, they knew they needed to act quickly to save the city. And, just like that was only the beginning of the episode - a beginning that made it clear this was the SVU premiere chapter of the overall story - it was also just the start of seeing the Captain, the Lieutenant, and the Sergeant proving that women get shit done. Seeing Captain Olivia Benson command her own squad room, after a long summer hiatus from seeing any of these characters, really felt like coming home. Law & Order: SVU 24×01 “Gimme Shelter – Part Two” did not disappoint on that front. So, what made this episode, out of every chapter in the “Gimme Shelter” crossover, the obvious favorite? It’s really quite simple: Cohesive teamwork, characters getting good moments, and the immediate comfort of that SVU rhythm. This absolutely, without a doubt, works as a premiere for this series specifically.” In fact, it was just easily the best hour of the three. It was also the part of the story that made the most clear sense in terms of “oh, yeah. As the middle part of the giant premiere event, Law & Order: SVU 24×01 “Gimme Shelter – Part Two” provided the bulk of the case’s action.
